Transforming Lives

In Chico, our no-fee program provides the tools needed to overcome alcohol and drug dependence.

The Chico ARP houses 50 men and women, identifying their treatable needs and providing hope, restoration, job skills, dignity and strength to these individuals who seek a strong foundation in sobriety and return to the community as  productive members of society.

Individualized treatment planning is provided to each beneficiary and includes one on one counseling and group therapy for  Mental Health and Wellness, Trauma, Domestic Abuse, Anger Management, Chemical Dependency, Self Esteem, Relapse Prevention and Life Skills.  Transitional planning is prioritized during the 4th and 5th month of the program to support a smooth transition into the workforce, provide support for housing navigation, and family reunification.  Spiritual counseling and ongoing ministry is a strong component of the program and provides a community approach to sustainable sobriety.

Transitional Living Program houses up to 16 beneficiaries, including 4 families.

The Salvation Army Chico Adult Rehabilitation Program is in a unique position to provide continued care for single parent graduates of the Adult Rehabilitation Program (ARP) and are in the process of re-unifying with their children.  Our current Transitional Living Facility houses four families and provides the continued case management, weekly counseling, 12-step programming and community outreach that these families need to regain stability and recover as a family.  With partnerships with outside agencies, county services and Salvation Army ministry programs, these displaced families are preparing to make a successful transition into the Chico community.  We have successfully transitioned 14 families into permanent housing, and have seen sustained recovery, and community engagement from these families.

Phase II sustainability component:   For the graduating Beneficiaries of our current program, the challenges and adversity will begin again when they depart from the doors of our facility.  Although our graduates are gaining in numbers on a weekly basis, the statistics are as staggering as ever; with a reality of one in ten achieving any length of sobriety.  These statistics are an intimidating and tragic reality of the recovery ministry in which we serve.  What we have seen is an 80% success rate for sustainable sobriety and 12-step recovery integration for those that stay in our program for Phase II.  This Transitional Living Program provides ongoing group therapy, drug and alcohol testing, counseling and supportive services to those who participate.  The Salvation Army Chico ARP is currently at 18% transitional clients and are in need of expanding Phase II of the program.

Statistics for ARP

Average days in program for graduates is 325 days
